TOUGH MOTHERS
For Women Who want the most out of Motherhood
WELCOME, TOUGH MOTHER!
Motherhood is tough.
BUT YOU ARE TOUGHER!
You just need to learn how to train your brain and mind to thrive.
Learn our simple, evidence-based techniques, incorporating a unique blend of neuroscience, psychotherapy and spirituality to train your brain and mind, and be a truly happy mother.
When you understand how motherhood changes you and your brain, you can easily learn how to truly thrive in motherhood.
Tough Mothers teaches women how matrescence – the development transition into and through motherhood – changes you and your brain, and how this affects your whole life.
Based on evidence-based neuroscience and cognitive neuropsychology research, Tough Mothers implements a 3-step process that:
1. Teaches mothers about matrescence
2. How matrescence changes you, your brain and mind
3. How you can use your these changes to train your brain and mind to get the most out of motherhood and truly thrive.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT MATRESCENCE IS?
matrescence: a woman’s transition into motherhood
I didn’t (and I am a mum of three, and have a PhD in Medicine!).
I just thought I was having a postnatal breakdown (read: stress, anxiety and overwhelm) after my third baby arrived. Turns out it was matrescence! And like so many mums before me, it changed my brain and my life completely. It was not good. I was not good.
I couldn’t find the help I needed. So, I created it. And I came back stronger and happier than ever.
And so can you.
You don’t need to be at the depths of despair, like I was.
Tough Mothers courses and programs are for all mothers and mums to-be who seek more contentment in their lives, or want to set themselves up for an amazing matrescence experience.
And it all starts with your brain.
Transform your brain, transform your life.
PREPARE YOURSELF FOR MATRESCENCE
Knowledge is power
1000 mums want you to know these things before you have your baby
I Wish Someone Had Told Me… is the best baby shower gift parents can get. It arms mums-to-be and new mothers with information that one thousand mothers from around the world wish they knew before having their babies.
Because some things in labour, childbirth and early motherhood are just too gross or embarrassing to share, many parents don’t find out the truth about what can, and often does, happen to women until they go through it themselves.
UNTIL NOW.
I Wish Someone Had Told Me… is the baby book packed with honest, medically- and factually-correct, informative, unspoken truths. It openly shares the gross, embarrassing, funny and rude things nobody likes to talk about, but every expectant mum must know.

A little about me…
Hi, I’m Dr Jen – mother of 3, neuroscientist, researcher, author and creator of Tough Mothers.
I’m a mum, first and foremost. I know how hard motherhood can be, I have had my fair share of struggles – stress, severe anxiety, overwhelm, you name it. I now also know it doesn’t need to be so hard.
Let me teach you how I successfully trained my brain to go from stress and anxiety to calm and fulfilment in a very short time. It’s simple, you can do it too!
I have been researching neuroplasticity – the brain’s ability to modify, change and adapt itself in both structure and function, as a result of our experiences and actions – for over 20 years.
Initially largely on a micro level in medical research (I have a PhD in neuroscience), and in the last decade mostly on a macro level and in private practice (I also have a degree in Psychotherapy).
Specifically, I look at how matrescence – the developmental transition a woman goes through when she becomes a mother – affects mothers’ brains, and how we can use this life-changing transformation to our advantage, by intentionally and simply training our brain to create a motherhood life we thrive in.
I didn’t deliberately set out on this path. It was something that I unintentionally developed when I was strugglingly indescribably after I had my third baby. I was desperate for a solution to feel better in motherhood.
It was through my transition from struggling in motherhood to thriving that I realised: when we become mothers the brain changes are massive. Yet we are not taught this. We are not taught that these changes will affect us profoundly on a psychological level, and will therefore affect our wellbeing and our whole life.
It is imperative that we are taught about our matrescence brain and how to actively train our brain in motherhood.
But we are not, so we passively bob around hoping that things will just get better. In the meantime, we are losing ourselves as women, and we are squandering our lives.
No mother should feel like this. And if you do, please know it does not need to be like this forever. You have found the help you are looking for.
All Tough Mothers courses are evidence-based. Not just because I, and the many mothers who have done them, are evidence that they work, but because all the strategies we use are backed by real science.
It would be my absolute pleasure to teach you about your motherhood brain and provide you with exercises, specifically modified for you, to train your brain to thrive in motherhood. You are not alone!
