This book contains experiences from almost one thousand mothers from around the world – things they wish they had known before having a baby.

Honest, factually-correct, funny, informative and a little gross, this is the best baby shower gift every soon-to-be mum must have.

This is the baby shower gift every expectant mother must receive before having a baby. It details things that can, and often do, happen to women during labour, childbirth and the first few weeks of motherhood, that women wish they had known before they had their baby. I Wish Someone Had Told Me… contains truthful, factually-correct, entertaining experiences that hundreds of mums from around the world would like to share with pregnant women and new moms everywhere. The aim of I Wish Someone Had Told Me… is to shed light on many of the things that women don’t like to talk about, like how scary it is to do a number 2 after you’ve had a baby. The promise throughout the book is to speak the truth, warts and all. The author, Jennifer Hacker Pearson, hopes that by sharing these experiences mums-to-be and new mothers will be better prepared going into their journey of childbirth and motherhood, and that their knowledge of these things, and that they happen to other women too, will reduce their chance of perinatal fear, stress, anxiety and depression. Jennifer Hacker Pearson holds a PhD in Medicine, however she wrote this book as a mother for mothers. The experiences detailed in I Wish Someone Had Told Me… are true, gross, entertaining, sometimes rude, and an absolute must to share.

  1. Maddi McDonald

I loved this book so much that I am telling all expectant parents about it. It is the best book I read while pregnant; I found it fully prepared me for the birth and the somewhat challenging time after I had my little girl. I don’t think my birth experience would have been so amazing if I hadn’t read this book – I felt very prepared and empowered with knowledge.

  2. Annalise Brown

Every expectant parent has to read this book!
If you read no other book make sure you read this one.
It is full of experiences that ACTUALLY happen. And the way they are told is funny, warm and so relatable. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It has labour, childbirth and early motherhood totally covered.

  3. Julie

I definitely wish I had read this book before I had my first child. It is full of gems of wisdom, eye-watering stories and hard truths about pregnancy, child birth and newborns. It is worth checking out just for the first chapter alone where the author describes her own childbirth. Wowsers is all I can say. Throughout it all is a complete lack of judgement and a lot of humour, just what new mothers need. There is no other book like this for expectant mothers and it should be prescribed reading everywhere. I will be recommending it to anyone who tells me they are expecting.

I read this book cover to cover whilst looking after my 2 month old, 2 year old and moving house! It was a great read and I couldn’t put it down. The knowledge within the pages of this book are invaluable.
I wish I had read it before I had my first child. Life during pregnancy and after the birth would have been easier if I had just read this book first! Would highly recommend it as the perfect baby shower gift.

I wish I found this book for my first child. Dr Jennifer Hacker Pearson’s book – “I wish someone had told me” was so easy to read, light hearted but also served as a great reminder and valuable resource on what I was in for as I embarked on giving birth to my second child. like I said earlier, I wish I found this book for my first child.

  12. Ala Pietranik

Jennifer’s book ‘I wish someone had told me’ is hilarious and informative. I found myself nodding all the way through thinking ‘preach sister’ and feeling a sense of camaraderie with Jennifer. I have also had the pleasure of working personally with Jenniffer and find her warm and compassionate and a real friend. Do yourself a favour and get the book, or book one of her services.
